Whether you are just starting out on your writing journey with your first story idea or preparing to self-publish your first novel, I’d love to help! Check out my resources below for different stages of your author career.
Just Starting Out
If you’ve always loved reading and telling stories, but are just starting out with writing, my DIY MFA might help. In August of 2018, I convinced my husband to let me quit my job and deep dive into the craft of writing. Since, like my main characters, we didn’t have tens of thousands of dollars sitting around for a MFA program, I searched the internet for information on university course curriculum and made my own.
I believe in sharing knowledge and success, while hopefully helping others navigate or avoid hitting the same potholes, so I compiled my DIY MFA resources to share with anyone else interested in jumpstarting their writing career.

Working Through the Writing Weeds
Every writer’s process is different, and I’ve learned through the many manuscripts I’ve worked on that each individual’s process can develop and change from project to project. Still, it can be helpful to have a starting point to explore what works for you and what doesn’t.
While I worked my way through my thesis for my DIY MFA and started my second project, I compiled my “hot take” on my personal writing process based on what I learned in the trenches.
I plan to continue to add new advice and guidance as I go, so check back intermittently for new articles, or contact me and let me know what writing advice you’d love to see next.

Once You Have a Work in Progress
If you have a completed outline or manuscript, but need another set of eyes, I’d love to help. Throughout my years of being a critique partner, I found I have a natural ability for reviewing and editing novels, especially in the developmental stages. While I thought I would hate revisions, my engineering brain loves the problem solving aspect of edits. I offer everything from book coaching to outline reviews, developmental edits, line edits, and query packet evaluations.
